At Watling Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils have access to high-quality education and opportunities to thrive, irrespective of their background or starting points, and free from social or economic disadvantage.
The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding allocated to schools to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and support children who:
- are registered as eligible for Free School Meals
- were previously eligible for Free School meals within the last 6 years but no longer receive them
- who are currently Looked After
- who were previously Looked After
- have one or more parent currently serving in the armed forces
For the academic year 2025–26, we receive £1,515 per eligible pupil.
Each child in receipt of Pupil Premium has a different set of needs and these will all be considered when making decisions about how the grant will be spent.
The Department for Education guidance on Pupil Premium funding states that schools do not have to spend Pupil Premium so that it solely benefits pupils who meet the funding criteria.
Pupil Premium can be used to support other pupils with identified needs or used for whole class interventions that will benefit all pupils.
