Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) refers to the part of our school curriculum through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future.
In Key Stages 1 and 2, PSHE education offers both explicit and implicit learning opportunities and experiences which reflect pupils’ increasing independence and physical and social awareness. It builds on the skills that pupils started to acquire during the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to develop effective relationships, assume greater personal responsibility and manage personal safety, including online.
From September 2020, all primary age children must also be taught Relationships and Health Education. Further information about this has been produced for parents by the DfE and can be accessed here.
Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) curriculum is delivered using resources produced by Coram Life Association and is based on six core themes:
- Me and My Relationships
- Valuing Differences
- Keeping Safe
- Rights and Respect
- Being My Best
- Growing and Changing
